About Me

I'm a doctoral candidate in political science at Rutgers University (United States) and am in the Women & Politics program, the first and only of its kind doctoral program in the United States for the study of women in politics.

In my dissertation I'm researching aged/gendered factors that shape young women's access to political office. Specifically, I examine political party youth wings in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden to demonstrate how these organizations are the first step in the gendered political career pipeline. This research has also enabled me to focus on additional topics such as youth wing organization and internal democracy.

Outside the scope of my dissertation project, I'm interested in the political representation of marginalized groups, particularly young adult political representation, and intersectionality.  For more info on these topics, visit the academic publications and media pages.

Before starting my doctoral studies, I obtained my master's degree in International Political Economy, an interdisciplinary program at Bilgi University (Turkey). I also hold a master's degree in Political Science from Rutgers University, and a bachelor's degree in Anthropology, and women's and gender studies from Montana State University.

Outside the academic sphere I am the Research Manager at Future Caucus, a non-partisan nonprofit who works with Gen Z and millennial lawmakers across the United States to transcend toxic polarization to build a better democracy. Before beginning this role, I was an American Political Science 2023-2024 Congressional Fellow where I worked with the Democratic Women's Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. I see myself as an engaged academic and therefore am keen to contribute to practitioner related work to build a better, and more representative, democracy. For more information, visit the practitioner publications, projects, and media pages.
